Tired, but Renewed in New Hope @ Wedgwood Inn
We left the city later than expected, and arrived to the Wedgwood cranky and tired. We were greeted by a warm welcome from the innkeeper and were offered a mug of hot wassail by a big fireplace as we checked - in. Only 2 hours away, we already were feeling transported to another time. Then, upon seeing our canopied bedroom and private victorian porch, it put us over the top. It had a fireplace too, and fortified by the hot wassail and homebaked cookies, we just stayed in for a quiet evening together. Our Breakfast in Bed tray came at 9am as requested, a tasty indulgence. We met Carl and Deanie (owners) as we got off to a rousing start at noon, and they were very helpful in setting out an itinery for the day: Michener Art Museum, 2 art deco antique shops in town and a riverfront table for a late lunch (The Landing). We also signed up to ea have an in-room message the next day. Carl also suggested the Covered Bridges self-drive tour (we did 5 of the 14) which got us into the countryside and some out of the way shopping. Dinie suggested a Tuesday morning visit to Rice's Market which was a real trip! We departed renewed and ready to tackle the mean streets of Brooklyn again. Thank you forvcreating a great inn with friendly and knowledgeable staff. New Hope is a like a college town for adults...all grown-up!
