What a huge disappointment-& they won't refund our deposit We arrived at the Hidden Moose after a 9 hour drive to find that the $168 per night suite had filthy carpet and a musty/animal smell. When we addressed this with the person running the lodge, her reply was "Oh, isn't that carpeting just disgusting?" Well, yes it was. And we expect a little more for $168 per night.
Also - though not really a huge issue - we were very surprised to find that this B&B isn't nearly so "hidden" as it appears from the photos on their website. Rather, it sits on the main thoroughfare going through Whitefish - traffic noise was plenty.
We left and found other accommodations -- "The Good Medicine Lodge" just down the road is immaculate, much more reasonably priced, and a beautiful B&B with very gracious hosts to boot.
We emailed and requested our $168 deposit back from the owner, who refused to refund our money because we "didn't give 30 days notice". I'm not sure how we were supposed to know 30 days in advance that his B&B would not mean a minimum standard of cleanliness.
If you're going to Whitefish, your dollars and your comfort will be much more wisely spent at the Good Medicine Lodge (goodmedicinelodge.com) where you won't regret your stay.
