Description:
We're in a a perfect starting point for exploring the city, a terrific area with shops, cafes, restaurants, theatres, movies, museums, Second City, comedy clubs, Lincoln Park, the zoo, the lakefront, farmers' market, day spas, a full-sized gourmet grocery, the subway, the bus, the free summer trolley, and for your jet lag, a 24-hour pharmacy, 24-hour health club and Chicago's only 24-hour Starbucks -- all within two blocks! I don't think you could find a more perfect location for enjoying the city.
This historic building was designed in 1886 by a prominent architect, Harald M. Hansen for his own family, and it has retained its original museum-quality Victorian detail -- stained glass windows, mammoth oak and cherry pocket doors, parquet hardwood floors, a carved oak staircase, three ornate decorative fireplaces, plaster ceiling medallions, etc.
The 18th and 19th century furnishings have been lovingly collected to reflect the home's original charm, and our 21st century amenities such as high-speed wireless Internet access, central air conditioning, and our no-smoking policy all contribute to the comfort of our guests. This is a very special place to stay, unlike anything else in Chicago.
