Description:

Roseledge, a restored historic property which once belonged to the colonial John Meech. An English man who fled from England and settled this property in 1720. As the 5th owners we have enriched this property with gardens and filled it full of romance. Our gardens encourage you to "smell the flowers" as many of them are scented and used in our B&B. Herb gardens provide the seasoning in our cooking and baking and eatable flowers garnish the dishes. Our Tea Room is a richly warm room with lace curtains, scented geraniums in the sunny windows and a wood burning fireplace. Breakfast is served here with choices from our menu with specials like "strawberry stuffed" French Toast, served from 8 to 10 am. You may also find home baked goods, cookies, and beverages. Our sitting room offers you a chance to get to know your innkeepers and fellow guests. To choose a book or game, catch up on the news or just curl up with a cup of tea in front of the fire. Guest rooms are all located on the second floor and each has a in room private bath. The John Meech Room named for the gentleman who settled this estate. A spacious room filled with the morning sun, offering views of the center garden below. Creamy pale yellow walls are hand stenciled with swags of Blue roses, colonial blue color accents the original trim, gunstock corner posts and wide floor boards. A handcrafted cherry pencil post bed with bed stairs to help you climb into this blissful bed surrounded with white lace curtains, made with a feather bed atop of fine linens scented with lavender. The Avery Browning room is dedicated to the family who spent the next hundred years here as a dairy farm. Soft lavender and butter yellows with sage green trim, hand stenciled walls with garlands of roses. This west room offers sunsets that will dazzle you and views of the rolling hills. Antiques fill this chamber and the wood burning fireplace offers you the yesteryear. This handcrafted pencil post canopy bed is of oak, surrounded with creamy sheer curtains and finished with a beautiful quilt. The fine bed linens are scented with lavender to bid you pleasant dreams. The Weaving Room approached by the back stairs, where hand stenciling fills the walls. A burgundy draped pencil post canopy bed is the center of attraction in this smaller room. A burgundy toile printed quilt compliments the sheer burgundy curtains that billow around this bed, romantic pictures, hand stenciling on the walls and a wood burning fireplace. We are located just a step away from the "Mystic Area", and other Mystic attractions. Par 3 golf is 1 mile away and the "River Ridge" 18 hole golf course on 200 acres of country side is 3 miles away. Hiking trails, swimming, and fishing can be found at the many State parks that surround us. Country fairs start in mid July and run into September.
